The manufacturing sector has proved to be a bright spot in the recent U.S. economic recovery. Analysts report a shifting in tide, with more production coming to the United States, particularly in high value add, short run and short cycle applications.

After years of struggling to compete with low cost regions, U.S. manufacturers may be closing the direct cost gap thanks to an energy boom, productivity and other factors. Increasingly indirect factors including lead time, risk, production innovation and quality, are being considered in location decisions. As advanced manufacturing technologies hit the production floor, these decisions will only become more complex and dynamic.

Make it in America is an intiative to explore these issues in more depth through active dialogue with stakeholders in the U.S. manufacturing sector. We curate content for debate and action between industry participants, thought leaders and policymakers through in-person interaction.
